The Department of General and Applied Physics (DGAP) of the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology (MIPT) educates and trains professionals in virtually all areas of modern experimental and theoretical physics: elementary particle physics, condensed matter physics, high energy physics, low temperature physics, nuclear physics, optics, astrophysics, bionanophysics, metamaterials, and plasmonics.

Along with a fundamental theoretical and practical education, students conduct scientific research and defend theses at leading research institutes of the country, such as Alikhanov Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Kapitza Institute of Physical Problems, Institute of Solid State Physics, Landau Institute of Theoretical Physics, Lebedev Physical Institute, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Institute of High Energy Physics, and Kurchatov Institute.

Students' advisers are world-renowned scientists. Graduates are highly qualified physics experts that are in high demand in leading research institutes in Russia and abroad, as well as in the industry.
